Live Stream #2 - Solitude, Writing, My Healing Journey, The Story I Need to Tell

My First Attempt at Solitude, Recovery through Writing, "The Bugler Stands Alone," On Loss and Overcoming Hurdles, Make the Complex Simple, The Healing Journey

Dear Reader,

We hadn’t done a live stream in a while, and I had so much on my mind lately, today felt like a good day to have another one. I hope you don’t mind today’s different format. :)

If you want, I invite you to settle in and see where I’m at these days with the full video of the entire live stream.

If watching (or skipping around) a 29 minute video is a bit much, you can save time and see some highlights I selected below.

(Also, there should be a “transcript” button above, if you’d prefer to read my thoughts from the video.)

Today’s stream was an update on my healing journey and thoughts on my upcoming project, my first book: From War to Writing. Among many other things, I talked a bit about the prologue and how I see the book coming together.

But, enough text for intro… today is video day. 8^)

I hope you enjoy this departure from our regularly scheduled 3,000-ish word missive.

Prologue: My First Attempt at Solitude

This clip tells a brief story of when I hit the brakes on my downward spiral… and how that short trip to the cabin in the woods was a vital turning point.

On Loss, Writing, and Overcoming Hurdles

I think I know the story I’m meant to tell… or, the first one, at least. :)

The Bugler Stands Alone

One does not simply sound a bugle. To which drummer does the bugler march?

The Bugler stands alone.
But always has an audience.

Who plays over The Bugler?
Even the sound of war?

Who conducts The Bugler?
No-one.

The Bugler speaks without words, yet
the message is always clear.

The Bugler sets the tone.
calls of farewell
calls of warning
calls of retreat
calls to war

A reader recently asked me if I could think of a time I was “comfortable in my own skin.”
I am when I’m bugling.
There may be a deeper or more detailed allegory to draw from my occasional role as a bugler.

Make the Complex Simple

This is a short discussion on how I see my book as the vehicle to capture the most important lessons learned from my recovery … and present them in the most simple, understandable, and useful way possible.

Navigating the Healing Journey

Just because you have a plan doesn’t mean life won’t throw you curveballs.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed this format for Live #2.

Please let me know what you think — of the content, or the presentation.

It feels like we are beginning a new chapter here. Quite literally, we are starting a new book, so there is that. :)

Thank you, dear reader, for joining me on this journey. I look forward to what comes next.

I hope you have a pleasant week. I’ll see you next Saturday.

Take care,

- jofty 8^)
