1,793 Words = A Reminder I'm Human
Dear reader,
Today’s intended article is still in my draft folder… all 1,793 words of it.
It is 6:43pm EST on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026… and I had to pull the plug for the day.
I guess it’s time for a reminder I’m human. :)

For the first time since I started writing here, I hit an impassable roadblock just before my publishing deadline. The article I’ve been working on this week to publish today isn’t ready, and I’m simply out of time to finish it. You deserve properly finished work, not something rushed to meet a deadline.
I very rarely finish my posts early and schedule them. I have done that a few times when I was out of town or knew my Saturday was otherwise obligated, but it’s not my typical workflow. Usually, I spend a few hours on Saturday finishing up the posts and using the deadline as motivation to wrap it up. Today, I totally misjudged my non-writing real-world obligations... and simply ran out of time.
I don’t write with a backup plan. Though I could probably re-work year-old articles and have them handy for ‘emergency use,’ it’s simply not how I operate. I don’t even use a ‘content calendar,’ as my attempts to pre-plan my work too diligently generally lead to frustration and a change of plans anyway. ;p
Every week I come up with something new to add to our journey along the road From War to Writing.
This week I’ve been writing about boundaries, specifically digging deep on a line from Chapter 2, about how we use boundaries to protect our Time, Energy, and Identity. I’m excited to share it, but I have to finish it first… and that simply didn’t work out today.
So, rather than cramming and pushing out something rushed, I want to simply say hello and let you know that today didn’t go as planned. When the article is ready, I’ll post it. :)
1,793 words reminded me that I’m human and can’t always do everything I set out to do. We all have limits.
This is also an opportunity to remember that we need to give ourselves a little grace, especially on healing journeys. :)
Even the Air Force aims for excellence, not perfection.
While I am tempted to apologize for this odd note today, instead I will thank you for your patience with my process. The road from War to Writing is a journey, and apparently today was a short section of a bumpy road.
Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
… and thank you for your understanding with this unusual post.
Take care,
- Terry 8^)
